Dr Jody Russon

The Department of Human Development and Family Science is pleased to welcome a new faculty colleague, Dr. Jody Russon. Dr. Russon completed her doctorate in Couple and Family Therapy at Drexel University and a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Drexel University Center for Family Intervention Science. She will serve as core faculty within the MFT program area.

Dr. Russon’s interests focus on implementation and dissemination science in family psychotherapy. She is engaged in interdisciplinary efforts to understand treatment mechanisms and integrate robust, multi-method measures of outcome into clinical research. Dr. Russon’s research focuses on vulnerable youth, specifically LGBTQ+ adolescents and young adults struggling with suicide, depression, trauma and disordered eating.

Dr. Russon is a licensed marriage and family therapist, an American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy Approved Supervisor Candidate, and a Person-of-the-Therapist (POTT) instructor. She is also a certified trainer and supervisor in Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT) and has received advanced clinical training in emotionally focused therapy for couples (EFT).
